rants, raves & rhetoric: the 3rs – april 11, 2011

11 Apr

This week will be another quick post. After recovering from my move and a visit to Toronto for some personal matters I am finally settled in.  I can now get back to the task at hand – creating sites and content that add value to your life.

At the beginning of the year I decided my focus was to really clean up the sites to help you understand what the purpose of each site is. My intention is to spend the first half of the year making that message clear. Getting a sharp clean look with stronger navigation is part of that but adding the missing pieces is also a part of the process. That includes resources that complement each site.

It is also time to add a little extra for my regular user – perhaps a weekly newsletter or helpful guide but I am not ruling out a few ideas I have been working on. Many of the regular readers know I’m not a big fan of the traditional email list. The average web surfer is bombarded with information that taxes their time and often confuses. I don’t want to contribute to that conundrum so I will take my time to do it right.

Movement is slow for have a niche day (HAND). I have contemplated shutting it down but then I wanted to talk about change. I was leaning towards a site about global change and social responsibility but it doesn’t make sense for this site. I can talk about those things right here. The original purpose of HAND was to talk about niche marketing and making money online.

Improvement and change are an important aspect in life. The IM (internet marketing) and MMO (make money online) industry needs a serious overhaul and lot more ethical practice. It’s not a market segment I want to pursue in great depth, but I think sharing insights and ideas can contribute to better online practices.

A few months back, I started a site called living on a dime (LOAD) but was bogged down with too many distractions and needed to focus on a couple core ideas. I have managed to get a handle on them and am hoping to revive the site. I’m excited, the site intersects green and saving money – a new challenge and it plays on my area of expertise.

It’s all coming together. Next month I plan on a more active participation in social networking with Twitter and the blogs I like to visit. I also hope to write some stand alone content on lenses and hubs. It’s time to take my profile to the next level. With your help I can do that.

Without further ado, let’s take a quick look at the articles from last week, just in case you missed them.
